We are an arts-based human service agency. We offer studio space for artists who have struggled with mental illness. Choose or combine almost any medium from ceramics to photography, textiles to painting. We also offer guidance towards developing your professional portfolio and helping you market and sell your art at local/national galleries and exhibitions. Yetti Frenkel paints realistic scenes of everyday life in urban and suburban America. She specializes in painting large scale murals for libraries and other public venues and has illustrated several children's books.

Anna Shapiro is a Yoga Teacher and psychologist. She received her Masters Degree in Psychology from Moscow University in 1970. Anna studied Yoga and Nutrition at the Yoga and Meditation Center in Moscow for five years. She began teaching yoga in Moscow in 1973 and has been continuing to instruct groups and individuals since her arrival in the United States in 1988 to present time. Anna graduated from Ayurvedic Rehabilitation Center in Boston in 1992 and received certification as a yoga therapist. Anna has worked many years as a psychologist and provided psychotherapy and treatment of a variety of psychological and emotional conditions, working with individuals and families in all age groups. She currently teaches every Tuesday at LynnArts.

The Little Gallery Under the Stairs

The Little Gallery Under the Stairs is a privately owned gallery committed to exhibiting art work that is process driven and communicative of shared human experiences. Located within the LynnArts building, the gallery also houses three artist studio spaces and maintains an on-line gallery.

 

ARTIST MEMBERS

LynnArts offers a membership level especially for artists. Unlike other Artist Memberships, there is no jurying process to become a member, yet you will enjoy many of the same benefits including: special notification of juried show calls, an artists link on our website, free admission to special artists evenings during the year (up to 3), and inclusion in our Artists Slide Registry, a resource we are currently developing to showcase the work of area artists. This new membership costs only $20 per year, and also includes regular member benefits like 5% off all gallery purchases and 10% off class fees. More information can be found under Membership.

Local Cultural Council Grants
LynnArts is the local administrator of Massachusetts Cultural Council Grants. These grants are available to both individuals and organizations. For more information about Cultural Council Grants, please visit the MCC website at: www.massculturalcouncil.org/programs/lccgrants.html

Studio Space
LynnArts rents inexpensive artist studio space in two separate locations; in our arts center at 25 Exchange St. and in the JB Blood Building at 24 Wheeler St. in Lynn.

  • both buildings are within walking distance of the commuter rail line
  • all studios have 24 hour access
  • spaces at the Blood building have natural light, permitted parking, a freight elevator and loading dock
  • studios at LynnArts are wheelchair accessible, have access to a standard elevator and parking
  • studios range in size from 100 to 650 sq. feet (depending on availability) and price averages $1 per sq. foot
  • all utilities are currently included
  • all studios may be shared, though LynnArts requires only one name on a lease as well as a three month lease minimum (spaces over 500 sq. ft require a one year lease)
